Sphider security
If your installation of Sphider is on a Linux based machine, it is highly recommended to password protect the admin directory. How this can be done depends on your host. In some cases, simply by modifying the .htaccess file and creating a .htpasswd file. Most likely, most hosts will ignore that and ...

Still, point taken. That would be a good change to include in the next release.

Sphider 2.1 released 23 November
Sphider 2.1, for all variations, will be released 23 November 2018. It seems that in previous 2.0 versions the wildcard (*) and negate (-) searches were broken. Well, actually BLOCKED would be a better way of saying it. Security got a little TOO tight and the '*' and '-' characters were being stripp...

See Sphider in action!
A demo for Sphider has been created at https://sphider.worldspaceflight.com/demo.php. This demo allows one to search the content on the Sphider Home site . You can also play around with the Sphider Admin page. (Of course, your changes aren't going to be actually saved.) By clicking on the Advanced S...

Re: Demo page
Actually....
It was quiet today.
My wife went shopping.
Creating a demo was easier than I anticipated.
There IS a functioning demo on the Sphider Home site!
https://sphider.worldspaceflight.com/demo.php
I have to tweak the appearance, but that is about it.

Re: Demo page
Don't currently have a demo page, but that really IS a good idea... You can see the search part in action at https://www.worldspaceflight.com/sphider/search.php. But I bet what you REALLY want to see is the admin and spidering parts. That's what I would want. I'll try to get a demo up the Sphider Ho...

Maintenance releases for ALL versions
Maintenance release 2.0.1 was released for Sphider PDO, Sphider PostgreSQL, and Sphider SQLite on 13 November. This inadvertently caused a few issues! So release 2.0.2 for those versions came on 15 November. A number of coding errors were fixed in the database error handling procedures in rss_spider...
