Re: how can i tell if indexing is working

Sphider records images by name and URL. If the same image URL/name is referenced on multiple pages, it will be recorded as a duplicate. Thus, it doesn't matter what page the image appears on, but where it actually resides. Each page being indexed finds all images referenced by that page. For each im...

Re: search.php on line 446 generating not permitted warning

Using the index that I build for the site, and doing a search for all images (*), the first ten results show these files in sphider/tmp: -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 60024 Jun 14 13:58 DSC_7048-2.jpg -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 80744 Jun 14 13:58 IMG_0081.jpg -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data www-data 5748...

Re: how can i tell if indexing is working

I am happy it is all working and glad I could be of some assistance. You did the hard work.
Persistence is what leads to success, and bitching is part of the process. (I know from experience!)

And just think.... you'll get to do it all over again when you upgrade to PHP 8... :o

Re: how can i tell if indexing is working

If you can find a Free BSD forum, that may be of some help from others experienced in the operating system.

Re: how can i tell if indexing is working

Whichever version works as the correct PHP module for you version of PHP. My experience says the modules change for each major PHP version and tend to be immune to minor changes. So, for your case, PHP 7.4 matters, but the ".20" minor version does not. Concentrate on the correct Imagick fo...

Re: how can i tell if indexing is working

I know Imagick can be a pain. My version of Linux is Ubuntu, which is Debian based. Ubuntu has vast repositories which really simplify life. Free BSD, on the other hand, is a real UNIX. My UNIX experience was on System V (AT&T) and that was several decades ago! There was a time I installed Imagi...

Re: how can i tell if indexing is working

I performed a test index on the site; When I test, I tend to torture Sphider, so I am likely more aggressive than most users. I allowed image indexing as well, which added considerable to the workload; The index completed after a marathon session of about 7.5 hours. The site was larger than I had an...

Re: how can i tell if indexing is working

Doing a quick test of the site, indexing SHOULD proceed rather quickly. If you are having problems with sphider exiting prematurely (before completion) and get a lot of "Continuing suspended indexing.", we need to dig deeper. For starters, in admin/spider.php, lines 34 and 35 control error...

Re: how can i tell if indexing is working

This is UNIX/Linux. No news is good news! LOL! (For Sphider, it seems to think ALL operating systems are Linux! :D ) Actually, depending on the browser being used, you should notice the page is active. For example, with Firefox you will notice a spinning activity symbol on the tab. Chromium (and I p...
