Re: .com search at Sphider 1.42

Here is the code translated from mysql to mysqli (like that found in 1.42). I have no way of testing this. My PHP version (7+) is such that 1.42 is too antiquated to run! But the code does look correct as far as the sql is concerned. The other code fragments do not need converting. It would just be ...

Re: .com search at Sphider 1.42

Looking at the posted code, specifically the last section (everything before is preparation for making the last section work), I notice: // Search for URL's that were already indexed. What is actually being search for is URL's that have been indexed. That is already available. When you look on the S...

Re: .com search at Sphider 1.42

Is it possible to convert MySQLi database to PDO? The beauty of it all is that the database doesn't need to be converted! The database is MySQL (or for some people, MariaDB). What IS different between MySQLi and PDO is how the database is accessed. When using MySQLi, you can access a MySQL database...

Re: .com search at Sphider 1.42

Most likely the code is deprecated. The original Sphider used the OLD mysql extension. Sphider 1.42 was converted to mysqli. If you will post the mod code, I will see if I can update it to mysqli for you. Sphider 1.42 is no longer maintained, but I DO support requests for help with it. On a side not...

Re: Updating Error

When you do go more mobile friendly, Sphider is already a good way there with the mobile template css. The mobile template is basically the standard with different css. From the looks of it, you are already basing your results page on either the standard and/or mobile template as it is. Sphider 2.2 ...

Re: Search language

After my middle of the night "flash of brilliance" and resulting tests this morning, I am inclined to agree that a ? modifier to the url is the better way to go. In fact, that is EXACTLY what I did with the MOD I posted. That mod could be adapted to any Sphider version I know of going back to the An...

Re: Updating Error

The idea I dreamed up last night works! You can see the details in the Sphider MOD board on this forum. W-A-Y cleaner solution than my first attempt. No need to copy files or create new directories. Search.php works just like it did originally, except that by adding ?sl= [language] you can get a sea...

Designate Search language on the fly

If you want to present the search page in a language other than the language setup from the administration paqnel, this simple modification will do the trick. Edit search.php. Very near the top, change error_reporting(0); $include_dir = "./include"; to error_reporting(0); session_start(); $include_d...

Re: Updating Error

I dreamed up another solution last night which I will test today. It is for a very simple MOD and will not require any separate directories or copied files. Essentially, it will involve adding a command-line variable to override any language setting.

I'll post later, presuming the idea works.
