On the matter of stemming

There have been a couple (two, actually) reports of Sphider failing when stemming has been enabled. I have not been able to test those instances, not knowing the urls affected. I can test sites randomly, but have been unable to get a failure... until now. More in a moment. First to let you know a bi...

Re: Premature completion

If you could send me your spider log I might get a clue as to what is happening. There is something strange here as I have indexed many sites using relative links with no issue. But even I come up with some invalid links while the source code appears totally valid. Give me a bit and I WILL figure ou...

Re: Premature completion

Using Sphider 3.3.0-MB, I added a new site: http://www.marquis-kyle.com.au/ I set index level to: full In settings, I checked "Index pdf". Minimum words per page is 10, minimum word length is 3. Re: Premature completion

Give me a link to your site and I will have a look. Just a couple ideas that may or may not apply... Do you have a sitemap, and is it linked to from the main page? Indexing using a sitemap.xml is a surefire way of finding pages. Do you have any links that are only in javascript, like a javascript me...

Re: InnoDB Vs MyIsam

Prior to 3.3.0, user choice! Each has it pros and cons. There are a couple items on the Admin Database tab that are geared towards InnoDb, but that shouldn't be a deal breaker.

Re: InnoDB Vs MyIsam

MyISAM does not support FOREIGN-KEY referential-integrity constraints while InnoDB does.
Such constraints are now an essential part of Sphider 3.3.0.

Re: Index Button leads to login form and nothing happens

The problem is likely that the session id is not being saved or otherwise inaccessible. I've never encountered this so have no ideas. Maybe this will help: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/155920/php-session-data-not-being-saved UPDATE: Just a thought... Sphider sessions do use cookies. Does your...

Sphider Backup Tips

Sphider comes with the ability to backup and restore your database. How well this works depends on not only the size of the database, but on your MySQL settings. The restore could restore a single record at a time, but this would be time consuming. It would be reliable, but for a larger database you...
