Re: Embed Search Box and Results In Another Web Page

You can easily embed the query on any page, but the results will appear on the search.php page. Another approach is to customize the search.php page. Instead of embedding search.php on your page, you are embedding your content in search.php. You can still have query boxes on other pages, with result...

Re: HOW can I get the ER diagram of sphider?

A note concerning the prior post: MySQL Workbench has a reverse engineering toll which is SUPPOSED to build a more proper ER diagram, but it fails to draw the actual relationships. The reason MySQL Workbench is unable to draw the relationships is because the SQL instructions which build the tables d...

Re: HOW can I get the ER diagram of sphider?

erd.png This is no where near a proper ER, but it should give an idea of what's what. The settings table stands on its own and controls the workings of the admin, spidering, and search functionality. The sites table has the details of each site in the catalog. The site_id connects it to the images ...

Whatever happened to the Sphiders for SQLite and PostgreSQL?

Sphider did have forks which supported SQLite and PostgreSQL in lieu of MySQL/MariaDB. These were forks of the PDO version of Sphider and have not been updated since version 2.1 in November of 2018. There are no plans to resume work on these because of very limited demand. While they are no longer p...

Re: can't indexing a lot of sites

Sphider 3.1.1-MB eliminates the need for the troublesome removeAccents() function. Rather than trying to force the word to conform to an all too English "a to z" alphabet check, the word is now compared to a unicode alphabetical check. The function had outlived its original purpose, which was for si...

Re: can't indexing a lot of sites

Looking at it... Which version of Sphider are you using? UPDATE: If you are using Sphider 3.1.0, try this: In commonfuncs.php, replace lines 404-423 $table = array( 'Š'=>'S', 'š'=>'s', 'Ð'=>'Dj', 'đ'=>'dj', 'Ž'=>'Z', 'ž'=>'z', 'Ć'=>'C', 'ć'=>'c', 'Č'=>'C', 'č'=>'c', 'À'=>'A', 'Á'=>'A', 'Â'=>'A', 'Ã'...

Sphider 3.1.0-MB and Sphider 2.4.2-PDO released

Sphider 3.1.0-MB is multibyte capable, like 3.0.0-MB. However, 3.1.0-MB does NOT require the PHP mbstring extension. Mbstring is recommended, but not required. If it is available, it will be used. If not, Sphider will emulate the mulitbyte character string functions. Also, 3.1.0-MB continues the imp...

Re: Can't INDEX my website - Sphider 1.4.2

Your latest issue is an easy fix. Edit the file spiderfuncs.php. On line 736, change break 2; to: break; !.4.2 was one of the earlier attempts at upgrading Sphider and obviously didn't catch everything. Also note that 1.4.2 does not index images. That didn't happen until version 2. As to your origin...

Character corruption

Sphider operates using the UTF-8 character set. When a web page is loaded for indexing, Sphider checks the HTTP headers to determine the character set in use. If it is not UTF-8, the data is converted to UTF-8. In its zeal to ensure everything is UTF-8, Sphider then performs a SECOND check. This is ...
